Recently a friend of mine was playing at the card table at a casino. The old guy sitting next to him requested 500.00 in chips and handed the dealer a 500 dollar bill. The dealer pushed it through the slot in the table and gave the guy his chips. My friend asked the dealer if he could change 5 100's for the 500. The dealer said that if he had asked before he put it in the slot that he could but once it went through the table it was in a lock box. Funny thing is the dealer didn't think anything of it, you would think that with all the money they handle they would be more informed about it.

Larger bills, those over $100, were discontinued during the Nixon administration as a measure to fight organized crime.
