I'm making good use of my time upstate with only 2 classes a week by hunting the cliff that keeps on giving.http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,115514.msg845960.html#msg845960 I hit a trail that leads from the site to the campus's president's house. I found some clad and pulltabs, but then i hit a lucky streak. I got a 1902 indian early on, and slowed down. In a few hours, i found a 91 and 77 seated dimes, not in the same hole, but close to each other. I got a 1892 barber near the 91 seated, waled up the trail and got a 1901 o and 1902 barbers about 2 feet from each other. I'm really pressing my luck by searching this area, there's no trespassing signs all over, but the safety office says yes and have told the president's family The president is Dr. Tim Ryan CMC, certified master chef. Last year, a few drunk students walked up to his house on halloween, but didn't get into serious trouble, just demerits. As long as i'm not drunk or show up at his front door, I should be fine. Picture 041.webpPicture 042.webp I also hunted the on campus chapel and picked up a 1937 wheat and a 1942s silver quarter last week. I've only found 3 silver quarters this year, so it's really something to find themPicture 043.webp

OOps, I forgot the quarter and clad. The 37 wheat was actually on the path, in the same hole as a 68 and 76 memorial, strange.

I'm almost directly across the river from your spot so next time your out there, face west and wave! maybe you'll see me waving back! NICE SILVER!!!

I'm just as shocked as to how many coins i've found there. And to think, no nickles yet. What did people do there. It's not on any maps or any books, and the safety office suggests that homeless people lived there, but then again, why would homeless people have that much money back then. There are a lot of clam shells and glass bits and pieces, both new and old. The iron suggests a railroad camp or a hobo's camp perhaps. However, I've found only clad from the tracks to the cliff. Maybe it was just a nice place to hang out and have a picnic

You found a great spot. Get out there and clean it up!!

awesome finds. I love posts from NY it keeps my hopes high congrats

Wow, SMS88, you struck pay dirt at that site. Seateds, barbers, and injuns....try to detect that place as much as you can. I know I would be. You're probably one of the first md'ers to ever detect that area.

Best of luck to you on future hunts there....keep us posted.

Well, I think this site is finally starting to bottom out. Found another one of these
Picture 044.webp It's an 1898. Although it has enough detail for an XF, the date is suprisingly weak, and an unusual type of dime that i've never found there before. Maybe you can help me identify itPicture 045.webp
LOL! There's still large and small chunks of iron, but even after searching with the small coil, i think i've got it all. Now to find another site as hidden as this

Man what super finds!Don't give up on that place yet ,there is more there.
