Greetings fellow dirt fishers.
I hunted a corn field that I had found a couple of Indian heads in last fall and found this coin and a few relics. The broken spur is brass. The item with the little lever at the top is a puzzle.
Any ideas on the ID are appreciated.
Thanks for looking and best luck to all. Merf

Sweet coin Merf! That's how I want my 2 cent piece to look when (or if) I find it. ;D Would be graded F-EF (porous). What was the history behind that cornfield? Did you know it was farmed in the 1800's?.

Bob

Thanks Bob- --I have a platt map from 1870 that shows a house and barn at that spot.

Merf, wonderful group of finds!! I love the spur & that 2-center

When I look at that HUGE expanse acreage in your photo, I ask myself, where would I
want to loose a 2-center back in the 1860's so someone could find it 145 years later? ??? ??? :D :D

Well done!

Thanks Watercolor and Tom.

I just walk the rows and do short swings Scott----It is easy digging with a 5 foot shovel.

Nice spot Murf, Thats what I like, Nice big field, plenty of room for searchin. Nice stuff there bud.

Picture no. 016.jpg the round bumpy item is the handle to a man's shaver. I have one made from King Razor.

For being in the ground that long the coin looks to be in excellent shape!

Merf,
Congrats on the two center and all your finds.

Any clue what the handle in the spur picture goes to? I found the exact same handle last week in a park that dates back to 1895. I was thinking it is an old razor handle that would screw up into a razoe head that would hold the blade. That is just a guess.

Thanks for sharing.
