Went out today with a plan on digging one pit and ended up digging four. Albeit two were trash pits and two were actual privies. Finally stopped raining for a day and the sun was out so we had to dig, it is a calling you know :laughing9:

Started out with a privy that ended up being the best one out of them all. Appears to be a double seater at least. Found a few crown top bottles and then Don got this nice white salt glaze jug. It looks like it is in nice shape too with minor staining.

Continued on to find several blob top beers. About half of them were embossed. Then Don got another jug which was pretty decent with one small hole. I jumped in and grabbed up a few medicines and then I found a jug that was missing the handle but otherwise decent >:(

Finished up the other trash pits with a decent milk and some other medicines. The second privy yielded a few medicines like Dr. Kings Golden Medical Discovery and a Hoods Sarsaparilla and Dr. Miles Nervine which was broke. Unbelievably I got the Ball Jar out whole from one of the trash pits. :o Usually these are blasted. I will take some further photo's after cleaning and post them on the bottle forum. These were good pits with a lot of nice keepers and whats better is that there is at least one more pit in the yard that is just a bit deeper than our 6 foot probes. So maybe its the older one and maybe some more nice stuff to come. We shall see on the next dig. :icon_thumleft: Goodluck out there and be safe. ;D jgas

Cool digs there and the jugs are cool too! Amazing what treasure can be hiding in a privy!

What would be the guess on the age of that Coke bottle? That would be a sweet find for a collector!
The finds you guys make are impressive. Good work and thanks for sharing.

Hey DMN, the straight sided coke dates around 1905/06 era. We find them every now and again and they are always a welcome addition to see coming out of a pit. We may find time to dig the pit next to the one that produced that coke on Tuesday. I am hoping for an 8 footer and a bit older. Thanks for the replies. jgas
