The species Iris are just starting to bloom,
Some of the Siberian and natives
As well as a couple of the early bearded varieties.

Just a short perusal of what is yet to come here if it doesn't warm up too fast.

The flowers are beautiful! Our iris are all ready gone for the year, and my roses are not to good, BINE WEED! Yuck! Got it out of the roses finally but, it and us pulling did a # on the bushes!

Yours are beautiful!

Evy,

I'll try to catch it when it gets into full bloom,
that red rose is really a neighborhood beacon when it goes off.
As you can see, it is just starting.
There are about 3 or 4 hundred buds on the thing.

Some of your variations I.ve never seen before, they are beautiful! :icon_sunny:

I noticed that the Columbines were getting open just as the wind came up.
I will have to go back and catch the yellow ones when it calms down.

oh dear goodness they are gorgeous!! and a PURPLE ONE!! My favorite color!! :icon_sunny: :icon_sunny:

Evy,

The varieties of some of these iris are some of the only ones available in this part of the country.

The fragile looking little light lavender one is one of two plants in the continental U.S.
(at least that I know of) It is a species Iris that is from above the arctic circle.

The yellow one is a type of species psudochorus iris from Finland I have one from South East Asia as well.
The spidery one that is a dark red color is a Spuria Iris and is only the first of these ...they will bloom into July.

Thom

Cyndi,

If you go to a nursery looking for the purple one... it is a floribunda called "Angel Face"

Thom

awwww I even love the name!! I can't wait til I have a yard again! I miss it soooo much! :'(

It has a small flower but as it gets strong good growth there can be thousands of them.
You can trust me the fragrance from just one flower will literally fill your house !

If the nursery dosen't have one, you can order it. It has been around for a long time and is still one of the most popular among the floribundas.
Thom

The ones that I had, they are already done with now they were the reg. purple and I had some pale yellow and some white ones! Yous are just beautiful! :icon_sunny:

Here is a few more that got going today as well as some that were pretty fuzzy yesterday.
The wind comes up and they just won't hold stll for anyone.

LOL
Thom
