I usually don't post my finds but had to share what I found today. There are sports fields being built on several acres of land that used to be part of Fort Boise. The fort was built starting in 1863, to protect emigrants on the Oregon Trail. My friend and I detected out there for about 3 hours this evening, and there were signals (mostly trash) everywhere. I ended up getting a bunch of eagle buttons, bullets, coins, and best of all, what I think are cavalry helmet plume holders, if that is what they are called. I also got a bridle rosette and an Idaho National Guard collar disc. It was hot, but the finds made it worth it. The plume holders are in bad shape. Anyone know about these things?

Any information appreciated, thanks.

Love the Idaho National Guard Collar Disc!

The muzzle loader bullet looks like a tie ring Sharps. Great finds...d2

Great finds. I like all those buttons.

you got some very nice finds, high cool factor

Nice finds! The plume holders are called helmet sockets, and may be from an M1881 dress helmet.

Niffler, I must say that that is definitely an awesome site! And it looks by the size and number of your targets that nobody has hunted there, so I bet there is much more to be found. Congrats on a very nice, relic-rich hint. Ddf

Now that looks like a good day to me congrats on all the nice finds
