The fines and the finds, the quest for gold

Frankenwasher

Gluing up the riffle tray tonight so I can stretch and fasten the fabric tomorrow. I'm hoping to get this done for the desert this weekend.

Frankenwasher

Working out the kinks. It's starting to resemble something other than a pile of trash

[Dig'em]

Running some dirt out at the Humbug claim after joining the First Class Miners club. I didn't really find much, some small specks, but I'm happy with that since it's my first color from the desert. I've thought of some ways to improve the dry washer so it's back to the drawing board before next months outing to the Ord mountains.

I went to my first group outing with the club this month. It was out in the Ord mountains and I got version #2 of my dry washer built just in time. It worked good but I still need to fix the feeder from the hopper. I ended up with my first bits of color from the desert and to make it even better, I won the 50/50 raffle Saturday night. I walked away with $95 which payed for my weekend!

Nice looking rough, chunky gold with quite a few pickers. Great work. I would say dry washer #2 is a success.

Looks great man! Very impressed with the build.

Haven't been on here in a while. I had lost my wheels and prospecting sort of went out the window. I'm mobile again and recently moved to an area that's a lot closer to some good digging spots so I went out the other day, ran a couple of buckets, vacuumed up a small patch of bedrock and did some metal detecting aka trash cleanup

Results from two of my recent trips. Good to see some shiny again!

Good to see you back!! Hope to see some more of your chunky desert gold!

Wish I had a macro to photograph this better. It was a random rock I picked up off the ground. I saw some crystals and what I thought was pyrite. After getting it home and looking through a loop I noticed it had more of a shine than pyrite plus didn't flake away when scratched with my nail. It's a lite layer, very coarse, covering a crystal next to what looks like a small smokey point and maybe hematite quartz points. Even has a couple of small flecks of yellow on the opposite side

I'm really enjoying my new place and all the space that's around me. So many places to explore just minutes away!

Whip whip whip! Not sure about this one so I brought a bunch of it home. A couple pieces sound really nice. So much black sand in this wash it's crazy, but nothing shiny yet.

Lots of sulfides in this material from the above video

[Dig'em]

Made it out to the river to do some sluicing and try some sniping. Found this small picker in one of the hillsides.

Working on a project while it's too hot to dig, fall is just around the corner! This one will be a backpackable puffer machine

[Dig'em]

Some fly poop from last week. I was driving home from a family reunion so I decided to stop by the river and run a couple of buckets

[Dig'em]

Finished the riffle tray. Now to figure out a latch and gasket the bellow box. I'm wondering what the best material would be for the bellow
