The Flat Tops Excursion

Hi all,
Thanks for the positive comments from my previous couple of posts!
Last week I spent 3 nights in an area known as the Flat Tops in central Colorado. Obviously this area is part of the Rocky Mountains but the mountains here are high country plateaus rather than jagged mountains that are associated with the Rockies. Elevations on top of the plateaus range from 10,500 to 11,00 feet or so, valleys are ~9,000-9,500 feet. Amazing and beautiful country. I camped in a forest service campground called Deep Lake as it is centrally located to the areas I wanted to fish. Was up at 3:30 Wednesday morning to watch the Perseid Meteor Shower - great show with no city lights! Enjoy the pics.

Sounds and looks like a perfect time far and away from it all... I'll bet that meteor shower out there was awesome to see. You sure don't find sticks like that in the city. What could be better then a big stick like that.??

Looks like some bear scat?? Nice fish, did you cook them up in camp? My favorite breakfast is trout and eggs, especially when camping.

Bear scat - exactly. Wasn't sure if I should post that one! I went back by that spot and a chipmunk or other critter had spread it out and ate the undigested berries. I did have trout for dinner one night but mainly catch and release unless I am up high where the water is clear and cold.

Tamrock, my pooch walks softly and always carries a big stick!

You always have great pics, 3x. Hickenlooper should appoint you and tamrock as official photographers of the Colorado the casual visitor never sees. Keep em comin.
