The future of Metal Detecting

I have never once seen anyone detecting in my town ...I hunt alone unless my kids or wife follow ... Sorry I like to hunt by myself.. Thats just me

I've become slightly worried about the future of the hobby.

Mainly because I don;t ever see young people (i'm 34) at any of the metal detecting groups i've attended. I always seem to be the youngest "detectorist" attending (there are often kids, but they're just there because their folks are)

Anyone else concerned over this?

old? i got twenty on ya. find a couch potato and take him with you. lie and tell him it's fun! my 14 yo. grand son loves it. he is also a great bottle hunter. he said Bop, yellow bottles are hot now. i've never seen one. he has three.

That's my point, people my age think it's the height of silliness, something that old people do.
