The gold standard

Several years back I found myself in a bind at a convenience store with my keys locked in the car and late to pick up my kids. After hearing my dilemma as I talked on the phone, the lady behind the counter, Dorotha, never having met me, throws me her keys and says try and be back by 5:00. I picked up the kids, went home, got my other keys, and promptly returned to fill her gas tank then return her keys.
Thus began the friendly game of me trying to make purchases at the store without her paying for them out of her own pocket because I wouldn't let her return the money for the extra gas I had put in her car.
Fast forward to one week ago. I had mentioned that I was going MDing with a friend when she told me about her late husband losing his wedding ring while cleaning out the car several years back. After about 8 hours stretched over 3 days of digging everything but iron using a stringed grid system for searching that would make the FBI proud I turned up my first gold (mentioned in another post) but it was not the ring I was looking for. I had come to the conclusion that the ring just wasn't there.
Two sleepless nights later I find myself on the forum here looking for ways to tweak just a little more out of the XS. I made several changes to my set up. Most importantly hunting with no disc. I also employed a technique I've used a few times in the past in trashy areas of angling the coil as I searched to try and get under the iron that may have been sitting directly over the ring. Two hours later in a particularly trashy area of her barn this little beauty finds its way to the surface. I was careful not to touch it so that when I returned it to her it was straight from his hand to hers.
After an emotional homecoming I find myself at another site Where I found my third and fourth golds. A plated knurled tube, possibly something for makeup and a gold cufflink plus a 1907 Indian head.
Thanks to a little perseverance and some great advice from friends here on the forum I now have a story of the big one that didn't get away. WHAT A DAY. Thanks guys for all the great advice.

You are AWESOME!!! The best part about your posts, other than the gold of course, was reading how thankful and kind you were/are. Your post was so upbeat and heartwarming. Keep on helping people out cause it sounds like the Karma Fairy enjoys coming to visit you for dinner!!!!
