Hi EVERYONE !
I found this coin about 8 inches down it's pretty massive compared to your typical large cent. unfortunately it's very warm except for the slight outline of a bust which I'm hoping will lead to a ID. so if you know what type of coin this is please let me know it was dug from a 17 hundreds site where boats used to pick up lumber for King George the first .thank you very much in advance. iron patch I can't even tell you how many times you've ID'd coins for me. once again thank you very very much !....now I wonder what a French coin was doing at a 1700 lumber dock .hmmmm..

You're very welcome, but it was pretty easy because it's a pretty distinct bust on that guy and I've seen it many times. Coins really got around back in the day and we have found many foreign here we would have never imagined we would dig.

Easy to tell its French but having never found one myself I would have had to narrow down the date & denomination. Bear in mind it looks to have been lost about 100 years after it was minted.
Good find & good ID.

Awesome find and great job IP on the id

Nice going on finding the two coppers, good ID IP.

Not an everyday find . Good job

Hard to determine but i think what you got is one of the first silver dollars or silver plug which is worth alot. 1799 the date was and your other coin is a french cent

NICE COIN YOU HAVE THERE SURF .

Wow! That is big, great find congrats
