Eagle. You got a store you could visit while the heats up? I told my wife I'm taking kids to the movies to have some free a/c. Lol
I'm sure you know this, but if you put up a damp cloth in front of a fan it could help cool your place better than just the warm air flowing.
If I was close enough. I'd come and get you guys and we could soak our feet in one of the rivers.
Right now I'm waiting for the all clear to get to Yarnell. I'm hoping to assist in cleanup from the fire for some of the people who got hit by it.
The closest store (boring) is about 4 miles. The Indian casino is about 6 miles. (Not so boring). Now which should I choose?? Never mind, I'll stay home. One would be too boring and the other would be too expensive. (lol)

Eagle - you are one tough bird!

Want a quick and cheap swamp cooler? Get a 2 liter bottle, fill it 70% with water, 10% rock salt and 20% air. Stick it in the freezer. The rock salt will take the frozen temp down more. After it freezes, take it out and plunk that sucker in front of a fan. That fan will blow the condensation off and cool you down.

Stay cool!

I think we're going to have to officially call that "The Hornitos Air Conditioner". ;-)

I've been thinking about crawling under the motorhome. 3 days ago, Flash quit wanting inside. She finally realised that it's cooler under the motorhome than it is inside. (lol)

Actually, it's a novel idea. I think I'd rather have a couple of gallon jugs though. (lol)

It is a novel idea. Personally after living along the coast for most of my life I've had enough.

Our AC is on a special switch which should cycle it 15 minutes on- 15 minutes off during extreme conditions. Well Monday it shut off. It took a half an hour after 'opting out' online for it to come back on. By that time it was 86 in the cool part of the house. I'm pretty sure it's natures way of telling us we should have our feet in the cold water of gold bearing streams of the foothills. :-)

Sorry to say, nope, not cool at all. I don't have a working ac yet, so it got up to 102 inside yesterday. Today, it was 104 inside. But, I'm drinking lots of ice water. (lol) Heck, I've drank more water in the last 2 days, than I have in the last 2 years before this. (lol) But, it'll be hokay. All I need is to get my ac charged with freon, and I'm good to go.

They can have that hole. They probably thought no one would do that much work unless they were getting a lot of gold. (lol)

Eagle, I know we've only spoken once on these forums, but I have an 8000 btu window A/C just collecting dust on my back patio. I used it for a couple weeks when my central A/C went out in May. Now that I got a brand new A/C (and one less arm & leg), if you want it, you're more than welcome to have it. I got it for free so it's no loss to me other than the gas for the drive from Atwater to the hills.

Halito My Friend,

How could I possibly refuse? If you would like, I could drive to Atwater to pick it up. That way, you wouldn't even be out the gas. (lol) Just let me know when we can meet.

Thanks from the Heart!!

Thanks for posting the DIY Swamp Cooler. I'm sure it's a lot quieter than running the genny in the RV and may well take the edge off the temps in the shop.

I want to take the time to proclaim rlucasm as Humanitarian of the Year!! Even though I was more than willing to drive to Atwater to pick the ac up, he insisted on bringing it up himself. I've already installed it in the window, and the temp. inside is slowly dropping. In the last 30 minutes, it's down 6 degrees from 102, and still dropping.

Thank you very much Lucas!!!!!

Rlucasam way to help out Eagle. Living in an ovens not fun. Though as kids we did that regularly. Lol. I guess as we get older. Hotter becomes less and less higher on the temp scale. Driving home it was only 106. I told my kids, it's not as hot today. If its not 110, then i guess it's cooler. Of course when inside. If its 80+, it's too dang hot.
Glad to see you're cooling off eagle. If my house wasn't full. I'd ask ya to stay and visit us in AZ. We could visit our friends in Yarnell.

That was an awesome thing you did today. Whenever he turns that thing on you know eagle will be thinking about you. And thinking there's still some great people left in this world.

id love to join you if only to pan for some gold lol. ive been reading your first posts again and i must admit im bitten by the gold bug all over again(and here i started getting into rockhounding). my biggest interest lies in finding the cave that the railroad worker you met in arizona sealed shut with a dozen sticks of dynamite near McCabe. althought from the description im sure it would be pointless to try to move the rocks around to try to get at that gold. but if you know of gold thats a little easier to reach just let me know and ill be all over it.
