The New Upgrade Killed my Computer

I'll try chrome when I get home and let you know how it goes.

Don't get me wrong. I don't mind change. It's just the slooooooooow that is killing me.

If the site was slow for me I can assure you I would not be satisfied with it either. I'm not blaming you for getting upset, I would be upset too. It's just that it should be working fine, so if it's not, it's a bug between the site and your browser and we just ask that you work with us in tracking it down ;)

But if you try Chrome I'm guessing it has a 99% chance of fixing whatever is breaking it. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

What kind of internet connection are you using, what browser, what version of that browser? According to Johndroid those are most likely going to be your culprits.

The site should be fast even from a slow internet connection... say even a 512kb DSL connection. Not a modem. However, if you have your "posts per page" set to say, 80 and it has a lot of images -- then that's going to take a long time to download over a slow connection. The old site should have had this same exact problem since most of the data is the actual image attachments on the long threads -- not the site itself.

99% of the problems we've seen so far have been outdated or broken installations of Internet Explorer that not only have problems with our site, but many other sites. They just didn't have problems with the old TNet due to TNet using older HTML standards and coding.

Are you actually using HTML Johndroid, or are you working with a preformatted website? Which version of HTML is it? I assume 5, which I have very little experience with, hoping to take the class for it next semester, it looked pretty impressive from what little I have read so far.

Prime example here....as soon as this site was changed over I downloaded Firefox because I knew my IE wasn't going to fair very well with the change. I can't tell you how much better my browser performs, "everywhere I go". It was something i should have done a long time ago but kept putting off because the IE issues were minimal most of the time. Once you make the change you'll be so glad you did.....and I even have VISTA, which I hate!

There isn't much HTML5 on the site, maybe in the Live Chat with some AJAX and such. It's a pre-formatted website (vBulletin) but we make template changes and programming changes to customize it for this site.

I think there are a lot of reasons to upgrade from IE to either Chrome or Firefox. Speed and security are the biggest issues.
