It would be easy to list several reasons for not going. This year has been rough all the way around but I still make myself go for at least an hour or two. This year has consisted of short hunts with way too much time in between them. It shows in my finds, which are few, and in my waist line which is getting bigger all the time. Sometimes I just have to say to heck with everything else, I'm gonna go dig some holes.

Sometimes it is easy to become carried away by the "party lifestyle".

It is also difficult to overcome the allure of cheap booze with day old hobo victuals.

Is that icon photo of you and your dog? Or maybe when you were younger?

The Leakey family of paleontology recently defined a new line of pre humanoids...

Any time the heat in over 100 degrees f, which is a good 10 weeks a year. By end of summer I have cabin fever.

Summer Heat or pouring rain, otherwise I am good to go.

Normally hunt early AM in summer, for a few hours, at least.

Broken back (fall from ladder)...
Permanently dislocated knee (hit by a truck as a kid)...
Arthur-Itis (23+ years pounding the ramp in the USAF)...
Hypertension (putting up with idiots)...
Diabetes (living on candy bars and soda because the MISSION came first)...

I can continue...

the only thing that stops me is when I hear one of my girls say "daddy, I love you, can you play with me? "
then, I just melt and say, sure honey.

My job has cut back to 32 hours a week, so no gas money for unnecessary driving. :(

5:33am getting ready for....mandatory overtime....sheesh....

(my wife 'guided me' to get this job)

Number one has never stopped me from detecting. I'm usually in the surf so I just stop swinging for a minute or so and go.

Number two on the other hand had almost stopped me once but, well... sorry about that tourist people. I had a turtle head poking out and had to let the guy go swimming in the surf.

#1. the extreme Arizona summer heat .

#2. not allways having the funds for gas.

#3. having the guilt of wasting the gas on the days the finds just where not there.

been unemployed for 2 &1/2 years due to a motor cycle accident that almost killed me that wasn't my fault an released from my job 4 days after the wreck .

not trying to give a sob story just the facts .

Darn thing called work. For some unknow reason to me, :icon_scratch: my boss actually expects me to show up for work everyday. :dontknow:, to make matters even worse, he has the gall to expect me to be there at the ungodly hour of 8am, right in the middle of the best hunting time too. :BangHead:
