I've been using an explorer for over 10 years and know about as much about screen readings as someone who has owned the detector for a week. But that's exactly the way I like it.

I'm curious. As you say you don't use the screen, is there a reason you chose the Explorer over something like the Sovereign?

While I do notice some differences when comparing the two units, does the Explorer really have that much over the Sovereign for the relic hunting you like to do?

I even though I haven't personally used I Sovereign I would think I would still prefer an explorer because I prefer it over everything else.

I'M new at this but I'm statrting to think detectors are like cars, whatever you have is what you like.

In a way, but I have played with plenty and they didn't give me the signs they could do what my explorer can on my old sites so it's more than just liking what i have. I couldn't care less what brand I use, or what it says, I want what works best and the day someone can show me targets I can't see I'll be buying a new detector. 11 years in and hasn't happened yet.
