So I went to a school today to see if I could score some jewelry. I got a late start and only had about two hours to hunt.
I kinda' forgot about this spot. I hunted it last year a few times with my BH machines but didn't have much luck; just the usual trash, can slaw and clad. I did find one junker ring but nothing to write home about.
I was thinkin' I may do better with the Delta so off I went.
It's an older school; it opened in 1958. I was hoping some silver coinage would show up but the oldest coin I found was a 1965 quarter.
Oh well. Maybe next time.
After digging the usual clad, TONS of trash and shell casings (in a "gun free" school zone no doubt), I decided to sniff around the bleachers a bit. I've had very good luck in the past in similar spots and today I was not disappointed.
After digging more pull tabs and foil I finally got a nice high hit in the mid 80's and out of the hole popped ring # 48; another silver one.........

It's missing it's stone and it's bent to hell but it's a little more silver and another notch on the ring count. I thought it may be old but I was able to track down the mark and the oldest it could be is 1987.
I'm bound and determined to find at least two more rings before the season is over to break through the "50 Barrier". Technically I've broken it if I count the plastic one and one broken one but I'm not gonna' do that. It has to at least be metal and in one piece.
I also found a small, very ornate sword hilt but I left it in my car and didn't shoot a pic yet. I believe it's made of brass. I'll try and get a pic up tomorrow. I was really surprised when that showed up. I have no idea how old it is or what it's purpose was but it's definitely unique. Maybe someone here can tell me about it.
I think this spot has potential but I'll have to spend a day or so there and see what pops. I definitely had better luck with my Delta than I did with my BH machines. As long as silver shows up I'm happy regardless of the amount of trash I have to weed through beforehand.
I guess that's about it for now.
Thanks for lookin' & HH.............
