Hello all. This is my search for the last 11 days. Silver find's have been elusive the last week or 2 but nickels have been hot. I believe there were 17 buffalo nickels along with 14 war nickels found in the last 11 days. Thanks for reading.
2/20/11- No Activity
2/21/11- Picked up a box of nickels(Brinks) and $10 in cents.(garda)
Nickel box had 4 dateless buffalos,a 1945-P, and 3 Canadian nickels dated 1986,1995,2001
$10 in cents produced 15 wheats(1913,rest 40s and 50s) and 4 common Canadian
2/22/11- Picked up a box of nickels(BrInks) and cents(Garda)
Cent box produced 14 wheats(1937,1938,rest 40s and 50s) and 2 Canadian(1945,2004)
Nickel box produced 1944-P and a 1994 Canadian
2/23/11- Had a vacation day so I spent morning painting, then did some banking. Dumped about $510 at penny arcade. Then went to pick up a box of halves. The order wasn't placed until today because of the holiday so i'll wait until Saturday to pick up that box. Had some extra cash to play with so went to another bank and bought $100 in customer wrapped dimes(1-1964) and 4 half dollars(1-40%). Then went to another nearby bank to ask about halves and they had $11.50 worth along with 3 Ike dollars. She was reluctant to sell one to me because it was dirty but ended up anyway. Another 40%. Picked up another box of halves(garda) which was a skunk. Returned 1 bag and bought a box of nickels. 4 war nickels(1942-P,1942-P,1943-P,1945-P) including 2 in one roll and a 1983 canadian.
2/24/11- Picked up a box of quarters, dimes, nickels and cents. The quarter box was a skunk, dime box was also a skunk, nickel box produced 6 buffalo and 2 war nickels including 2 in one roll(1917,1926,1934,1935,1936,1937)and(1944-P,1945-S) along with 2 canadians, cent box produced 32 wheats including a 1917 and a beat up 1935. Picked up a half dollar box at another bank. Saw a bender that got my hopes up but besides 2-40%ers, it was the only silver in the box. Then picked up $100 in dimes, skunk. Returned about $1000 at another branch.
2/25/11- Picked up a box of halves after work(garda)(yellow and white wrappers)(1-64,3-40%ers). Dropped off 1 bag at another bank,then picked up 3 more half boxes at my regular pickup.(brown and white wrappers) 1st box-skunk,2nd box- Dominican republic 25 pesos,3rd box-3-40%ers(1965,1967,1968-D), Bought $10 in cents and bought $5 in cents at another branch. The $5 produced only 1 wheat(1946-D)and 2 common Canadians and the $10 produced 6 wheats and 9 common Canadians.
2/26-I made 9 bank stops after work
#1-Used penny arcade
#2-Bought $100 in dimes(garda)(62-D,60) Another customer found out he had a counterfeit $20. Some of you might remember i had one a few months back. I had to fill out some paperwork because of it.
#3-$15 halves in teller's tray(skunk)
#4-No halves
#5-No halves
#6-No halves-teller didn't even bother to check
#7-$250 in dimes from trays(Brinks)(1941 Merc, my 1st in a while)
#8-Dropped off 2 bags of halves, bought box of nickels(brinks)(1944-P.1944-P,1945-P)
2/27-Picked up one box of nickels(brinks)(6 buffalo nickels, 3 war nickels)(1920,1923,1936,1936,1937,1937) and(1943-P,1943-P,1944-P)
2/28-Picked up one box of nickels(brinks)(1 buffalo nickel-1937)
-$20 in cents from 2 different bank stops(12 wheats,3 canadian including a 1940)
3/1- No activity
3/2- Picked up box of halves(Garda-skunk)
Dropped off bag of halves and bought a box of cents(brinks)(21 wheats including 1914?,1923,1929,1930(cleaned and damaged),1936,1937 and 3 Canadians including a 1940. Also found a very unusual find, a route 66 button. It's not even flat.
Had to sell some of my halves to pay expenses. Got 20x face on the 64s and $3.25 per 40%er. The dealer told me that last month alone, he went thru 3 books of receipts with all the customers selling him silver. I know there are places that pay more but this dealer is convenient to my location and pays reasonably IMO. I only sell when i have to, otherwise i would wait and see like many of you. I'm just glad i have it to sell.
1 last stop of the day and i bought $9 in cents(garda)(4 common wheats, 5 common canadian)
The 1st pic is of some of the nickels found during this search period, i accidently thru some into my nickel collection before i could get a pic of it. The 2nd pic is some eye candy for you nickel searchers. It's a nice little pile of war and buffalo nickels found CRHing with a couple of Liberty nickels thrown in. Thanks for reading.
