The Tesoro Mojave Injun Tracks Down More Silver

I arrived at the site this morning around 7:30 and set the discrimination on nail reject, 'low' on ground condition and the sensitivity was set at its highest. The little Mojave was as quiet as a mouse until it got over a target.

On my 4th dig I recovered a beautiful silver and black onyx ring. That find made my day, so the rest of my finds for the day would be gravy. At that site it went down hill from there. The ground was covered in can slaw, making it super hard to hear the smoother deeper targets.

Finally, I took gold rings off the menu and raised the discriminate up to a point where zinc pennies were discriminated out just for testing purposes. Things quieten up and I was digging quarters, dimes and copper pennies with ease, but not one single wheat penny. When I'm not finding wheat pennies I don't have much faith in finding any silver coins, so I moved on to another site.

At the new site I put gold rings back on the menu by lowering the discrimination back down to nail reject. This site was trashy but nowhere near as bad as the first site. I was finding plenty of clad coins, but still no wheat pennies to spur me on. I usually dig around 10 or so wheat pennies per hunt.

Finally, I got my search coil over a 1950 Rosie dime. After drinking 3 huge mugs of coffee this morning to get me started, I was in need of bathroom break, so I headed for home. I'll finish that site off maybe tomorrow.

Hi, on your advice, I had purchased a new Mojave today from Rusty. He is on the road, and has two detector, one for me. I had called Kellyco, and they sold out and there was a waiting list, not for me. I let all of you how it is working out.

Thanks! I'm pretty dang lucky to have good places to detect. I'm in gold ring mode now, so there might be a drop off of silver finds for awhile. Digging all those low conductors slows me down and wears me out, but sooner or later I'll be rewarded with a nice big ole gold ring or maybe another gold coin.

That's a super sweet ring and congrats on the silver. Don't take this the wrong way Mr. Tabman. When I look at your threads and see that bucket lid with all your finds and trash. I get to thinkng that there isn't another metal detecting person within a hundred mile radius of you. Your always knocking it out of the ballpark. Keep it up.

Thanks! There are plenty of guys who metal detect in my area, but they don't have a silver tongue like I have to get all the permissions that I get and I also detect in some shady parts of town.

Thanks! I'm not going to say that the $251.10 Tesoro Mojave can out perform the CTX and Deus, but I'm willing to bet that it can hold its own against both of them jewelry hunting in my hands and the Mojave will easily pay for itself with good finds much sooner.

I've hunted side by side many times with one of the best Deus users in the country (czconnoisseur) using one of my Tesoro detectors and I held my own even though he's a lot younger. LOL

The Tesoro Mojave is a flat out super fun detector to use that does a fantastic job at finding the good stuff.
