Ever since we went from the 20th century to the 21st century, people have been putting the word "and" in the date. 2000 and 4, 2000 and 9, 2000 and 15. There is no and in the date. We did not find a 19 and 4 penny, we did not find a 19 and 9 nickel, we did not find a 19 and 15 quarter. I'm yelling at people on TV when they put and in the date. My Rant, I'm done.

Glad ya got that out... :occasion14:

I’ve never noticed this until you mentioned it but that is weird. People my age just use the last two digits as the first two are a given. Like “when were you born?” “11”. Anything before 2000 we just refer to as the 1900’s.

God this post makes me feel old… but not as old as those guys on here who were born in the mid 1900s lol

And.... AI says.... :evil6: :evil6:

  • "Twenty twenty-six" (Most common)
  • "Two thousand and twenty-six" (Common in British English)
  • "Two thousand twenty-six" (Common in American English)
  • 2000–2009: Typically phrased as "two thousand and [number]" (e.g., "two thousand and five").
  • 2010–Present: The phrasing shifted to "twenty [number]" (e.g., "twenty-ten", "twenty-twenty") for better efficiency.
  • 2026 Context: As of 2026, the year is26 years away from 2000, which is the same distance 1974 was from 2000. This means the "twenty twenty-six" phrasing is now fully standard, replacing the "two thousand and..." format popular in the early 2000s.

Nah, a lot of Americanized Eastern Europeans skip the " and " when Pronouncing years after 2000
.or after 2010 if you will...
They just say 2 thousand fourteen, 2 thousand nuneteen, 2 thousand twenty three.
Except when naming 2020, then many would say 2 thousand And twenty.
Abroad in Europe they even say in short: 2 and 20th ( for 2020 ), 2 and 15th ( for 2015 year) and so on
I mean they also use " and " for slower speech.
But in conversations that are taking place faster and about very familiar events, they might skip the " and ".
