Found this Theodor Roosevelt 1904 campain medal back in the early 1970s, in viking park, Gurnee IL. Thought some of you might be interested in seeing it.

I agree Nana - excellent find in great condition, but I can't help wondering what the wording means. "Stand Pat" was his slogan for the 1904 election, but the "Pierre for Capital" has me stumped. I originally thought it referred to Pierre South Dakota, but I found that it became the capital of SD in 1889.

Anyone up for some research to figure this one out?

is it for sale? I just love teddy roosevelt --- my kind guy --- wish to heck we had a guy like him running for president today ---hell I'd vote 10 times for him --- Ivan

I like that medal! Really cool!

Nice medal, congrats! HH, Mike

I see that people are trying to figure out what gives with the "Pierre for Capitol" on the piece. Back at the turn of the century, and I'm not sure of the exact year, but there were three cities trying to get selected as the capitol of South Dakota. Besides Pierre, there was Huron and Mitchell. There are a number of ribbons and pins available that have survived over the years. They are a neat sideline to collect. I have a few different ribbons, and a couple of different pins, and know of several others. I don't know if Teddy had this badge made with the other towns listed on the back or not. I have never seen them, if they exist. Hope that this answers some of your questions.

Sorry ivan, it's not for sale. The only thing I ever sold, that I found, was a model A/ model T liesens plate from 1912. It was missing a little piece of the plate. Anyways, I sold it when I was about 8 yr. old. HH

had to ask --I like teddy roosevelt--- good president---we haven't had one in long time
