There's a Bird on it but it's no Eagle. Turkey? Not a clue.
Found this on an old plantation that dates back to about 1750. It has been flattened out but it was probably shaped differently in it's day. It seems to be brass.
The center circle is about 2" in diameter and there is a bird eating fruit/berries from a hanging cluster while standing on a branch. There is a small bird to the left of the larger one. The whole thing is about 3.5" in diameter. The background is lined in places where nothing is supposed to be - reeds, leaves, branch, etc
My best guess is some sort of decorative piece that showed through a carved wooded box or something. There are no nail holes to indicate it was mounted.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Daryl
