Hello Diggers ! Made it to my favorite site on the weekend to dig up some more World War 1 goodies. Didn;t recover a wide variety of items this time but as I see it...every item is precious nonetheless. When I dig these items I have to stop and remember how lucky I am to be alive and healthy. The men who lost these pieces of their militaria were marched into almost certain death or serious injury on the killing fields of Europe. If they could come back to life today I wonder what they would think of the many who take their easy life for granted.I will never sell the items I have dug up from this site as thier value is not measurable to me.Hopefully I can get back to the site a few more times before the snow comes to blanket the ground again.Managed to pop out a 203 Overseas Battalion collar with wheat sheaves and logo NO.1 Hard on it, a general service shoulder badge, 2 shirt or underwear buttons, a piece of broken calvary boot spur, .303 training round unused etc. God Bless and Happy Hunting...Panz

I know what you feel.
I still have my great uncle's WWI trench-coat that he wore in France. . . plus some photos and his payment record book.

Those are trulely some awsome finds! Kids today don't know the sacrifices that had to be made so they can enjoy their video games of today. They would be priceless to me also. Way to go!

Panzer, I'm glad to here the reverance you have paid those who have laid down their lives so we my remain FREE and have the freedoms that we have today! It a shame it was wasted on so many of todays youth! God Bless you and the hollowed ground you search on. And may God protect our troops today as he has in the past.

Thanks for your thoughts about the fallen. Most soldiers just got swept up in the 'great events of history' and were ultimately sold down the river by the politicians. When I think of the battles of the Somme, or Verdun--hundreds of thousands killed, or Fredericksburg or Pickett's Charge at Gettysburg of the American Civil War--tens of thousands, a silence of the graveyard comes into my soul. I used to drive Highway 19 in the Central Highlands of VietNam, where 3000 men of the French Groupe Mobile 100 are buried. They had been sent to a foreign land, 17 years earlier, by their politicians.

Thank you for unearthing and preserving these relics, and for giving us a look (and a remembrance), too. 11/11/18

Man those are sacred treasures..maybe you can display them in a special place of reverence.

Awesome post, thanks for sharing.

It's awesome that you respect the ones who gave so much, I guess its up to caring people like you to keep history alive in this day and age.
Please continue doing what you're doing :)
