🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Thin Brass tag?

So I got this from a creek its too hot for anything else.
Its roughly the size of a quarter very thin,
Says "S. AMER"
Nothing on back

It sure is a unique find I also am hoping someone can identify it. Can you add anymore information about it's location ? Any more information on its finding might help on it's identification

It was in a creek in Winchester Va
Where the third battle took place
I'm sure there were a lot of old farm houses there at one time as well
