Found this thing, its heavy and as you can see certain spots are shiney, could those spots have been made of nickel or stainless or something that doesnt tarnish or rust?

The picture of the back isn't showing too well, but it looks like a bearing/bushing retainer cap.

Looks like main or rod bearing cap off off an old engine, maybe steam, they had poured bearings of babbit metal. the two round spots were holes to keep it on place , the rest of it is gone.
