I had posted this before wondering what it was used for and found out that they used these to "smooth Arrow's"....to get the extra bits off, make sense?
I believe that is a beautiful spindle whorl and not a shaft abraider.
Ring thing with hole? Lol... There's no telling what kind of things you have in your collection
You should really invest in an in-depth publication written from an archaeological standpoint specifically for your area... From the look of the quality of the artifacts you are finding it would be a sound investment.
I mean that absolutely light hearted it just seems it would be giving respect to the artifacts and the people who created them to curate them properly.
....thanks guys, took your advice Gatorboy and did some research...and yes, you're right about what it is..spindle whorl! Found a picture of one that looks almost just like it, a Toltec one from Mexico. We found the one we have in CA, in the mountains. Maybe they used it for spinning wool? Let's see if I can post the pic. I found and ours..... Outlaw, I do have it posted somewhere on this site with close up pictures of carving, probably a few pages back, will look for you. Thanks again!
