Went back to my creek that I found so much stuff a few weekend ago. Instead of hunting the holes in the creek that I found, I decided to go on up stream as far as I could go(I was trying to beat a rain storm). I found some pottery and chips 2-23-14 008.webp2-23-14 009.webpA spoke shave2-23-14 011.webpA crude celt that I think was in the making 2-23-14 013.webp2-23-14 014.webp2-23-14 015.webpI was about ready to stop, I thought it was going to be a almost shut out and then I spotted this2-23-14 003.webpI thought it was a piece of pottery with a hole at first, but when I picked it up, it was to heavy for pottery and then I saw it was a pendant2-23-14 004.webpI was wet and muddy up to my waist but when I turned it over, I may have wet on myself2-23-14 005.webp2-23-14 006.webpI sat down in the water and mud for over 30 min. just looking at it. I have seen photos and read of things like this but never did I dream I would find a item like this.

From the pics, it appears that many items found in the creek/stream would not have been subjected to a lot water/rock action as in tumbling downstream. Also, the Pendant may have recently eroded out of the creek/stream bank due to a flood or flash flood event that effected the creek/stream and is the reason it is in such great shape. If it were me, I would be spending a lot of extra time spieing the banks of the creek/stream from where the piece was found upstream as far as you can go!

Very cool find, I'm going to throw my guess in on the image. Could it possibly be an image of a Spanish ship with the sails? Not sure how close you are to the gulf but from what I read the sight of a spanish ship sails had a very lasting effect on the native population.
Cheers

Wow Wow Wow! That is a fantastic piece.

Monsterrack, Congrats on a really great find! I love seeing you guys finding this type of First Nations stuff in the wild.....

Amazing! Congratulations on your awesome find & for making the banner.

Keep it Up!

That was exactly what I thought when I saw it. I have absolutely no knowledge of artifacts, hieroglyphs or petroglyphs but it looked like a ship to me.

Judging from those site photo's. Looks like you had your work cut out for you. It definitely shows that it is a well earned find. So many things are going through my head about it. Like your likely the first person to touch it in what could be over 1200 years. Its a rock, not gold or silver its just a rock. (This is not a put down of the find its a comparison) Haha, funny if you think about it that way right ? I mean Its amazing the first jewelry items were likely stones or plants. How now people wear gold, silver and watches but then something as simple as a stone was made into beautiful jewelry. This piece looks fierce and strong I think it was a hunters or warriors and not a woman's. I don't know this is just what I feel. Again, really an amazing find !! If you find anything else about it, please tell us !! Congratulations on everything the find and the banner!!

Keep @ it and HH !!

:occasion14:You must have quite the collection if it only makes your top 10! I can only imagine the feeling you get holding that piece in your hand. How could you not spend hours imagining the hands that held it before you?

Looks like ancient hebrew writing to me. Simular to the bat creek stone dug out of a mound by the Smithsonian. I would definitely have it looked at be an expert in ancient hebrew writing. The message it could give us would be so awesome to know.

The Bat creek stone was not real. I do not think it is anything like that. I think the same culture that he dug his other banner from?

When was the last time you read anything on the bat creek stone. Anything that I have read says It is very similar to Ancient Hebrew and if anything, it was undecided about the authenticity. Also, that a carbon dating test was done on the wood fragments that were found with the stone and it was dated to the early times of A.D.

From what I understand it was dug up during a professional Smithsonian dig. Was published upside down at the time, and later authenticated as ancient hebrew when turned right side up,as well as retrieved by the indian nations recently and reauthenticated.

I'm actually reading a book by a woman who had a hand in translating it.
Most anything found in the world that doesn't make sense or fit in with the mainstream archaeology, is usually discredited and set aside. Same is true in North America

That is wicked cool. I wonder if that is writing on it and if so what it might say.

Holy crappola!!! That's a museum level artifact. Big time congratulations on finding that!

That's amazing.

I showed it to a friend of mine that is a archy and he went to his knees for real, I thought he was going to cry. We went over the pottery that I have been finding and it covers such a large time range he said we would never know what time line to put to it by the pottery style. He said the state had found one that was close to that style and he would get me more info. He said he does not believe that is words on it,(there is not a know written language for native's of this area) he thinks it's a image of something, he took a bunch of photos and said let him study it and show them to some others and then he would give me his best guess. This photo shows why we have so much stuff in this creek, in this area the occupation level is a black dirt, where ever you find black dirt then they lived there for a long time. Due to erosion this gets washed into the creek. The 1st photo is at the waters edge. Here is a better look at it after it has dried and been cleaned up a little and I do mean a little. And the first thing he asked was where did I find it and don't lie to him,(I think he thought I was digging somewhere) so I told him. I found it in a creek. That's no lie and there is only 1 million of them in the 4 county area. :laughing7:
it is a truly amazing piece glad I got to see it ;)
