This is the ring that my buddy texas yankee mentioned on his post.so i thought i would post so everyone can see and yes it was my first hit about ten feet from my jeep. with close ups. thanks for looking happy hunting. keep in mind this dump we hunt dates back to the early 1900s

Oh, I like that one. The setting makes me think it is fairly old. I would try to find out what the stone is.

so does the wife. but to bad its messing a piece. but this one will be in her collection
 

The missing piece of gold can be fabricated by a goldsmith and it will actually be stronger than the original cast. If this ring is what I think it is, it would be worth repairing. :thumbsup:

I'm guessing Pink Sapphire, Alexandrite or Tourmaline on this one. Given the era, I'm thinking corundum.

That's a great find ! Could be a ruby, or a rhodolite garnet , possibly a rubellite tourmaline . Yes the shank can easily be repaired .

Nice one.
The stone's cut looks like what's called "rose cut" popular in older pieces..I would think that was a ruby.
