It is a whole new site, new owners and new format as we all see. I for one am having many difficulties with it, but trying to understand it however frustrations have set in.

For those that call complaints gripping that is in correct. They are facts and the member is stating what she or he feels. Just like some on here seem to be loving the site and saying it out loud.

So the basics of it all is : Some old members will stay

Some old members will leave

Some new members will join and love it

And some will not like it at all and not join.

In a nut shell : IT IS A WHOLE NEW SITE and has a whole different feel to it THAT IS THE FACTS, no matter which side of the coin ( no pun intended you fall on)

Good Luck to the new owners you have an uphill battle, some succeed and some don't. How did the change to the new coke go over back in the days?

Most will stay..
And to the original post:
Old site was to change or plain go away. Software was too old to keep it going.

Lostcauses you are quite a cheerleader to the new site and for you that is great. I have also notice most that like don't have to many post or been here that long. So as I said before a whole new site with a differant flavor. More will leave then you think. But then new people will join the new site , so be it. The main thing is that is much more confusing then the old site( that can't be no more ). I too belonged to other forums that changed to this format and they were great forums, but crashed and burned after the switch.

Bubba65,

I definitely understand your concerns and I'd love to help address them and hopefully fix them. But can you be more specific with what in particular you don't like or is harder/more confusing?

First let me say this, I am a creature of habit. I do not like Change!
Like most of you here, I will change, I will spend the time to learn how to deal with this New Site.
If you buy a New Metal Detector you will have a Learning Curve, Won’t you?
No matter how hard we try or how much we complain, We can not stop change from coming.
It is just Life, Make the best of it and Enjoy it.

As you say it will make it or break it.
As long as folks want to talk treasure, and post finds: it will make it. New people already showing up, some old ones may leave. I suspect it will make it.

As for cheer leading, I have a bit more knowledge than the average board user. Most user have not a clue as to what is to be done in running a board, much less keep up with security issues and so on.
That in itself is a testimonial to people that keep em running.
Trying to help people as I can if they have questions, I will, hearing to Its badd, Its badd, don't cut it for me. If I felt that way I would just leave.

These folks took a lay out and changed it to as close with in the constraints for the system to make it as close to the old one as they could.
They are one of the fastest groups at fixing problems in a board transition I have seen.

People just dont like change.
It has changed: It is what it is. It will or wont survive.

It will depend on the people of the board.

I dont see what the big deal is myself but then I just joined about a week ago. Sure things have changed a bit it appears and i for one do not like the brown color, maybe thats whats driving people a bit nutty. Either way Im staying as I like seeing what everyone is finding and feel there are a lot of good categories to discuss here as well.

Once we get all the bugs of this site worked out we hope to have different color choices available as well. Should give those of you who aren't fans of the brown something you might like better. That's at least a few weeks out though while we iron out everything else.

Bubba65,

I definitely understand your concerns and I'd love to help address them and hopefully fix them. But can you be more specific with what in particular you don't like or is harder/more confusing?
Well for example the old forum was very easy to navigate, didn't have to worry about any of this settings crap to change this and change that. Another thing is this is suppose tobe a family site and my son used to look at it with me , but not with all the crap ads that pop up about sexy chicks that live 4 miles from me, I personally am quite appalled about that fact alone. I also don't give a crap about Goggle and I don't want there crap shoved in my face everytime I want to look at something. But sadly the one thing you can't change at all is many of the old timers who are very knowledgeable are leaving the site because this switch that was made. So like I have said It is a totally new forum so take down your little sub heading under treasure net that it is the original treasure net, that is false advertising. Things have to change , BUT REMEMBER not all changes are for the better. I have also said that people that give there opinions that this site is horrible, they are stating the fact, but yet they get knocked by people who have posted seven times. Just like some that love the new change and state that is are stating fact too. Well that is it for now there is much more to say, but i feal this post is long enough. Oh one more thing the stupid site log me out while I was typing this and when I went to post it, the message said i don't have the authority to post it, give me a break. Where is the button that says keep me logged in until I chose to log out.

I haven't gotten mad at anyone for posting negative things about the site. We take the criticism and try to use it to improve the site. To address your concerns.

1. The old site had Google Adsense on it. That's the same program we are running now. However it didn't show image ads previously and now it does. The ads are based on what the page is discussing and what you are browsing through google (ie, searches you've preformed, other sites you are on that also run adsense) -- so the ads are targeted to each individual and the content. If someone starts talking about the type of ads you are talking about, they are going to show up on the page. Because Google scans the page and puts ads relevant to what the page is about -- so the more everyone keeps talking about it, the more those ads are going to show up. Same thing happened on the old site, just via text and not images.

2. I would love to make this site easier to navigate -- but you've not given me any particular thing I can even start to look at. Just saying the old site was easier doesn't help me. Someone previously said they had a grid layout -- and the only difference I can spot is that the old site put the thread starter into a separate column.

3. When you log in there should be a check box next to your username and password entry area. It should either be labeled 'Save' or 'Remember Me" -- checking this box should make sure you don't get logged out until you are ready to log out... even if it's for weeks.

Hope this helps.

Anytime there is a large change there are going to be members that are upset, don't like it, need help learning the new system, etc. We are here to help in any way possible. Many people just need help trying to figure out how the new software does something. I've helped out a ton of people yesterday and today and will continue to help out as best I can.

You don't get it, before there was no need to adjust all these settings crap just to look at a post. Second i don't save my password any time in anyplace I go, very easy to hack. Third I don't use google at all and why should i have them tracking what i do. I know it is all about the money and that is the true feeling I get. It is more complicated then the old format and maybe you should just face the facts that it is. I notice you also try to act like this is the same site as it was before , but it is not and all you amin and mods should admit to that also. It is new and very differant. You ask for particulars the whole thing is very confusing to me and yet the first day on the old site i was getting the whole thing. So there is alot bigger of learning curve here now. I also do notice that you did not respond back that you will make it a family site again and not have the ads pop up that are not family friendly.

The only thing I would ask for is a link to the "ispy" on the main menu bar . Otherwise great upgrade, I've been playing around, posting pictures, changing my profile etc.. shame I lost my vids and html background etc on my profile page, but I'm sure I can get it all back in time. Take time to learn it guys, it's much better. I've been in IT and web based systems for 20 plus years now, and this is a great upgrade. By the way, how do you become a super dooper mod???, just asking 8), and just kidding about the mod thing

Bubba65, Anytime a non-family ad has been mentioned we've added that URL to the censor list and moving forward it will not display those ads.

It's located in the navbar now and has been renamed to "Live Posts".

The only thing I would ask for is a link to the "ispy" on the main menu bar . O
