This is what happens when you don't stop and think

I lost the nut and bolt that hold the coil in place on my spare md. My good md just got shipped out this morning for repairs. So I went to the local hardware store and bought some new ones. I wasn't sure what diameter I needed because I didn't measure the hole before I left. Since I didn't know what size I needed I bought 3 different nut and bolt combinations. I went home and as I was putting the bolt into the hole I realized that its not gonna work because the nut and bolt are metal. DUH So back to the store I go. They didn't have any plastic ones. While I was there I locked my keys in the truck. I called the old lady and she brought me my spare key. When I got back home I happened to glance in a case on the wall where I put all my expensive watches to display them and to keep them safe. There was the nut and bolt sitting in the case right where I put it so I wouldn't lose it. I feel so dumb right now.

If your md can balance out a metal nut and/or bolt - wouldn't it balance out anything you detected that was made of the same material?

Not if you are just passing over it. Some will if you go over the target several times.

LOL Been there done that...Here's a tip.....Home Depot carries Teflon screws and bolts...Stock up...They work great....As a dealer, I should be telling you to buy them from the factory but, I'm a lousy salesman and actually like to help others out. lol HHHH

I have tried several varieties of these Teflon Bolts and can never get them to tighten
down enough to hold the coil head steady.
if I tighten them down too much the threads strip and slip..
I only use metal ones now.
I just can't deal with the hassle...

Although Stainless will work,

I Put a Piece of Paper Between
the Treads & The Nut
& Tighten it down.
Seems to work for Me with the Teflon ones.

havn't tried it yet
and unless you own a pack
don't waste one but I Wonder If
Taking a Lighter & Melting the Threads Slightly
then Forcing the Nut on would work.

OH & Those "Brain Anerizims" :P

When we were fixing an older one, once, it seemed to work better if you wrapped the threads with teflon tape - at least it seemed to tighten up better, and stay there.

But, to tell the truth, I don't know if that one had plastic or teflon.

My 8 inch coil has a metal bolt but my 4 inch one is all plastic. I would not use it on a small coil.
