This weekend's first nickel & dime box

I got a dime and nickel box yesterday and I just finished the nickel box I started last night and found 1 buffalo and 2 silvers. I finished the dime box this morning and just before I thought it would be a skunk I found a '64 Rosie in one of the last few rolls. I hit a few banks this morning and got another box of dimes, nickels & cents for tomorrow. Here's my finds from the first two boxes this weekend:

Dime box:
'64 Rosie

Nickel box:
1 buffalo - full date '37
2 silver - '43P & '44D
32 (non-silver) pre '60 Jefferson's including a '38, '39, '40s (2), '41s, '42D & a nice cond. '53S
2 '09P's

I also found a rather dark & dirty '45 Merc Friday morning when I was finishing searching a dime box I bought on Thursday. So my last few boxes this week seemed to be producing rather steadily. But I think I was skunked with a dime box I bought on Wednesday. So I've found 2 silver in my last nickel box and 2 silver in my last 3 dime boxes. I'm not sure of my exact longer term averagers for nickels & dimes but it seems nickels produce a little better for me (plus there are other types of keepers than just silver) but they do take a little longer to search so both dimes & nickels have their advantages & disadvantages I suppose.

But I'm going to start searching more half boxes from now on also because they are obviously much more financially rewarding - unless I just get skunked to death.

I spend a lot of time doing this hobby, 8 hours a week and have a schedule for pickups and dumps and search a lot of coin - easily 5-6K a week in dimes and halves! Go for it, get the silver why the gettins good!
