This week's $2000 in halves -- error with pics

Hey guys, pretty depressing week for CRH boxes. I purchased two Brinks and two Garda. NO SILVER. I did get a bag earlier this week and scored big, you can see that thread from two days ago for info about that. Oddly enough, they won't sell me bags anymore!! Their manager came out bitching at me when I came back asking for another bag of coin. Bah, there goes that silver-mine...

But I did find a pristine 1972D without an FG, the rarest of all the missing FG's from what I learned on google, checked numerous different pages. Here are the pictures, I have a nice fancy camera but I don't have a macro lens for close shots, so it still comes up a little blurry. It is Not a double died error, no matter how blurry the date appears. The edges are crisp, it's beautiful. Ebay values it between 40 and 100$ based on completed listings from this past week.

you can actually see a bit of the "FG"... those trick me as well, very weak, but it is there. sorry. good eye though! I check for them as well, no luck. hh

Very cool variety! I only look for 74 D Dbl dies, 72 Dbl dies, and 72 D no FG. They are really easy to spot. (And silver coins are nice!) I found a nice 72, but neither of the others yet. I guess the no FGs are out there. I'll keep lookin. Nice find!

dont get hung up on the carrier, its the bank chain , not the carrier, the carriers do not comingle coin.

you can actually see a bit of the "FG"... those trick me as well, very weak, but it is there. sorry. good eye though! I check for them as well, no luck. hh

When the shot is zoomed in that far there's bound to still be a very small residual fg regardless of the amount of polish hindering the stamp.

I would also argue mine has less scratches. Plus, his luster almost looks like he cleaned it with a cheap cleaning kit.

Before that one is zoomed in with a horribly blurry picture you can see the fg is almost more apparent but went nearly 50$ more including shipping. I still think I have something here.

I have to disagree with BuffaloBoy. It looks legit. Under the magnification, you expect to see some shadowing.

That thread might help show what is and isn't a true no FG.

Either way, the coins are selling for a premium over face value on eBay no matter what caused the no FG.

So congrats, no matter if this coin is a "true" no FG or simply a grease filled die (myself I'm not really sure) it is worth a substantial premium on eBay

wow, i threw back 2 of them like the one pictured, thought there had to be "NO FG" as in not even a shadow of it. ok DD, you got me.

Don't be too certain, without this magnification it really really looks like there's no trace at all

Yeah, I thought yours looked like the variety, though I wasn't sure how much of that was the camera and if it looked that way in hand too
