Last week I found a spot at the convent that produced a ring (shown), 7 wheats and my first buffalo (1936).

I went back today for a two hour hunt. I found gold (colored anyway), My first Mercury (1919) and my first thimble (Sterling Silver). I think I was more excited about the thimble than the merc. Also found were three more buffalo (not shown - one is a 193?, the other two can't read the dates), another wheat (1913) and a nice little doggy. (size of a quarter)

The pics suck but it's the best I could do.

Nice finds. I only have 3 buffalo nickels for five years of hunting. You must have a good place to hunt.

That's some nice digging. Congratulations on all your first time finds. Those buffalos are tough to find and so are thimbles. Nice job!

Thanks guys. I cleaned up the Buffs a little with soap and water, one still has no date, but the other two are 1917 and 1934.
With a 1913 wheat, a 1917 nickle and a 1919 merc, it's possible to break the 1800 mark there. Still no barbers, IH, or silver quarters, but there's lots of yard left to search.

wohooo nice finds...that hair thingy, is not a hair thingy...its a mens tie holder.. the bobbin pin part attaches to the mans shirt and the loop chain part hangs down in front of the tie.. see if theres any markings on that one..neat looking and congrats on all the other goodies.

Nice finds! Love those Mercs, and the thimble is great, too.

I think that any time you find a dog, it's a good day.

I thought it might be for a tie, but wasn't sure cause it looks like a bobby pin with a chain. The only writing on it says "SIMMONSA" (?) It's really small letters, but that's what it looks like. It don't say 18K. LOL.
