I have another minor brain storm and need help. Some questions:

1) Will a Sub-Bottom Profiler work in shallow water (1 to 3 meters)?

2) Where in Tampa/St. Pete can I rent/lease a SBP for a short time (one week to one month)?

3) Water has buoyancy. What would be the apparent weight of a chest weighing 200 pounds?

I don't know the answer to the first two, but the third question depends on the volume of water the chest displaces. Find out how much that displaced water would weigh (volume x density, for example, cubic inches x pounds per cubic inch = pounds) and subtract it from 200 pounds. If there is water or dirt in the chest you have to add that to the weight.

Beep,
If there's any dirt in that chest, I'm screwed!

Hey Griz, don't forget to count the temperature of the water and factor in the salt content. As for the profiler, contact J.W. Fisher. They make magnetometers.
