I will be going with family to Cherry Grove Beach soon, and was wanting some tips. I will be using an ATpro ( which I know is not great in saltwater, but it's better then nothing). Also what are good ID numbers to defiantly dig, or how high to set discrimination. Any help is appreciated!

My AT Pro works great on the South Florida beaches. I have heard all of the problems at other salt water areas and I even had a problem in Puerto Rico on the west side on Rincon beach (it went nuts)

Anyway my normal setup is always the same Pro Zero mode then I do a manual ground balance in the water that's about it.

But keep in mind take off the coil cover (sand and air get's in and will cause noise) plus use divers grease on all the O rings.

Beer and binoculars and have fun  :laughing7:

Pay attention to where people congregate, and to the heavy surf zones. Stuff will get tossed around more where there is heavy wave action.

Thanks for the info!

Gold, platinum jewelry of different alloys, shapes can sizes can fall almost anywhere on the VDI scale. To be sure just dig anything you are reasonably certain is not iron. BUT some lower conductive items can be pulled down into iron range. If you get a hit that sounds repeatable in 2 directions and pinpoints halfway decent, dig it!
