That's good to hear rock as far as that crazy wind goes. Last I heard it was supposed head east back out to sea around the time it hits South Carolina I think? From what I have been watching it is a beast...

It looks potentially catastrophic for Florida doesn't it? Hope everyone evacuated and aren't trying to ride it out.

With Matthew heading east, the eastern part of NC dodged a disaster.
The last storm dropped around 10"+ of rain in my area...the coastal region got even more. With water logged ground, even a stiff breeze would topple trees.

Its not looking too good for Florida...especially if hangs around or worse, it makes a return!

We got everything locked down (stuff brought in, shutters closed, garage door braced, trimmed some fronds on the palm trees, etc.) and then Matthew wobbled and took a turn north... It was like a normal rainy day here in South Florida. Good news. For the folks north of me it looks like it's going to be a long day.

A near miss like this is probably the most dangerous thing a hurricane can do. After a swing and a miss like this, many people tend to go light on preparation or skip the evacuation notices.
