To roll or not to roll? That is the question.

How many of you out there re-roll your boxes that you order? Or do you just dump them unrolled?

Dump them unrolled, that's what a free coin counter is for, and it counts $500 in half dollars in about 5 minutes, this includes changing the bag that fills up every $100 that is put in!

I just dumped $497.50 in halves (found 5 keepers) in a coin machine without it having to be emptied once! Can't beat that!

Banks around here (central VA) do not readily accept rolled halves. My dump bank has a sorter machine and they see me coming with my wheeled luggage, meet me in their vault and let me dump. When the bags are full ($1000) I voluntarily move the bags to the other side of the room. I also take all my empty boxes with me so I leave zero footprint behind.

Roll my halves and dump at CU, take my zincolns to a bank in mason jars and they take them in another room and dump them in their counter.

I am forced to re-roll, as no banks in my area have coin counters. I only do 2-4 boxes per week, so it's no big deal....

Depends on where I am dumping at. Two of my banks would like them rolled as they have no counter. My other banks will unroll them and dump them into to counter. So if I am taking to those bank I will not roll....Matt

I haven't found a bank in the SF bay area with a counter, so I roll them. Anyone know one with a counter around here?

you have to pay for coin wrappers to wrap your coins. Even though coin wrappers are cheap or free(from banks), you have to take the extra time to re-roll the coins and have a burden on the tellers who need to count them... instead of just throwing them in a beach pail to dump when it's full

If you can't find a coin machine in your area look harder! Even if you had to drive 20 minutes it beats rolling!

I use coin lok bags. Simple, clean and no rolling.

Any coin counter machine in my area charges 3% even if your a bank customer. I reroll all my rolls using the original wrapper.

There's no banks with coin counters up here in Fairbanks and the ones that do have them in Anchorage charge percentages, so I have no choice but to reroll.

It's either roll myself (which takes the most time) so I get cash for them right away or trust the sorting facility to do it for me while I'm not present and get credited days later. No thanks, I have no choice to do it myself.

I would trust the sorting facility, those coin counting machines are accurate, and I'd let the teller I give it to the precise amount in the bag down to the penny.

I have found enough banks (currently) that I can use their coin machines, two banks have cut me off after filling a bag once, some people have no patience or customer service.

Anyway you may want to keep some halves you pick up loose and fill your dump back to $500. I always try to dump exactly $500 so that if there is ever a discrepancy the bank will know that I always dump the same amount, so I have a bit more backing that I brought in more than $400 in halves...
