Got out for a few hours today the weather was great in RI! Visited a cellar hole deep in the woods that dated back to the early 1700's. found the usual shot gun shells, bullet casings and iron scraps but managed to pull a few keepers. The copper is completely smooth on the bust side but shows enough detail on the back to make out what it is. I can't make out the date but I'm pretty sure I see 178.. my first Connecticut copper and I'm happy to dig it! Hey, congrats on your first Connie! Tough to say without a bit more detail, especially given how many varieties are known, but that reverse is looking close to a number of the 1786 dates. I just love the state coppers.

Nice other finds, too. Especially strong petals on that crotal bell.
