Today 3-12-19 pottery and mystery piece

Took a sick day and it turned out warm and sunny and I was feeling better so decided to check a spot in the creek. Glad I did because I found a pottery shard

This is the outside section And this is the inside Where I live this is called Burke Phase pottery, the identifier being the soapstone temper.

The next piece is a mystery. I don't think it's Native American or pottery, at first I thought it was a piece of a pipe but leaning toward a car part type pipe. My son says maybe the end of an old gun barrel. Any ideas?

Just tried a magnet and that ruled out metal. No telling what it is.

There’s a few beaches around me that have tons or iron in the cliffs that erodes out in some really odd shapes maybe it’s something like that

Just tried a magnet and that ruled out metal. No telling what it is.

Here’s a pic of the iron stuff I was taking about , sometimes it’s smooth on one side like this one but most are the same on both sides.

I think you're right! Weird how it has that nice smooth curve on it. Thanks for posting the pics.
