Today brings my oldest silver quarter a new 1st & alot of much needed relaxation!

God out to a nice nice new spot today in the beautiful weather and things started out wierd, my atpro was full of chatter, I figured maybe it was the power lines close by so I switched through all four channels and nothing was working I tried taking the batteries out and restarting it and still nothing was working so I just started gridding hoping it would go away. as I got further away from the house chatter went away turns out most of the chatter was tons of nails can slaw pull tabs and other junk but I stuck with it though and managed some wheats from the early years 20s and 30s so I figured if there is wheats there's a silver or two in there. I kept on gridding and my eardrums nearly got blown out buy a beautiful 85 86 In N Out pops this amazing Standing Liberty quarter no date of coursemy first Standing Liberty quarter and oldest quarter by far!!!!!:headbang:, kept on gridding nd got some more wheats 30's 40's and 50's until I got a nice 8183 single I figured it was silver so I dug the plug and lo and behold it was my 5th silver this year 1941 Mercury dime! man I'm pumped to have a multi silver day again i haven't since last year!! I also found what looks like a lead ball that was fired, A lid to a type of old compact, and a neat religious metal that almost gave me a heart attack cause I thought it was gold IMG_20140418_113713.webpIMG_20140418_113658.webpIMG_20140418_121112.webp I finished the day with 16 wheats in the 20's to the 50's the cool religous metal a ton of scrap and also this really cool 1911 half penny but I have no idea where its from:icon_scratch: anyhow today was a very fun hunt on a beautiful day that was much needed thanks for looking and happy hunting

Great finds Cjon! Thanks for sharing...

Nice finds, congrats on your standing lib. quarter. I don't know what coil you have. I picked up a super sniper last year and have been going back over those super trashy areas you described and doing fairly well.

Sounds like a well rounded day of relaxation. I love those days! :)

The ground chatter might also be complicated by ground balancing. With all those bits of metal in the way, it's a nightmare to get the ground tuned in, let alone pick the right signals. Best to try to find a spot where the tuning isn't over some piece of junk. :)

WTG!

Awesome man, good for you...

Looks like a good hunt to me!!! Any multi silver day is a GOOD day in my book! Congrats :icon_thumright:

the wierd part is I think it was more related to the overhead powerllnes, almost like the power surge wasnt as strong a little later cause it calmed down considerably the longer I stayed there. I went over areas twice and the second time it was much quieter, lol I dunno it was being very temperamental

Yes! My first multi silver day this yr, been way too long. I just dont understand hiw a 1911 British half penny gets to northeast Pennsylvania lol

Nice find cjon. i was out for the first time this year today and had a similar problem with chatter. I think it was just a lot of junk. Also this is my second year of detecting and i had to relearn a few things. lol. still looking for my first dug silver. Found about 85 cents today.

Nice hunt. Still looking for my first SLQ. My hunting buddy found a nice one last year but I'm still looking. Congrats!
