today found more gold 14k or izzit ? silver anyway?

mysteries abound in the jewelry world. seems nothing is too cheap to fake.

any way a nice low tone on the excal2 produced a fairly large earring that looks

gold.it is marked M92514k. i can tell the clip mechanism is sterling. but the body looks gold.

i would think it was all silver, goldplated. except if it was it would give a hi tone on the excal.

and it gave a low tone which is the gold sound.

so im guessing the M stands for Married 925 sterling clip. and 14k body.using silver as a stronger metal to make the clip more durable

if plated i would expect it to read 925 GE or 925 HGE

however there seems to be no limit to the length jewelry makers will go to .

to hide exactly what things are made of.

they love to mark stuff karat that izznt.

anything to make a piece appear valuable while actually being made of crap.

SO ANYONE EVR ENCOUNTER THAT PARTICULAR MARKING B4 ?

last year i carried around an earring that i was sure wasnt gold no markings

and then turned out it was. oh well you never know

im jealous of those pawn guys on tv that always seem to have a handy and very authoritive

expert nearby to find out what real or fake.

i would guess they have to pay these guys to show up and give an appraisal but of course,

they never show it.

You might want to take it to some jewelry stores and pawn shops and have it looked at, Chug and I have a ball taking in stuff he finds, and everyone we talk to enjoy hearing about his detecting, we have 3 stores at the mall in our area that we go to just to see what we can find out! Keep us posted and let us know what you find out, and if you have any pictures, that would be great, now you've got me curious!!! Good luck and HH
