Today's 18 Boxes of Garda (Black & White) Halves 08-30-2011 - Results Updated

I usually don't post much but today I'm going all out with halves and thought I'd share my experience. I'm getting 18 boxes of halves from Garda and can't wait to get home and open them. I will update tonight with my finds.

those black and white wrapped halves have been really good to me at times, recantly downhill. did 3 boxes and got 3 40%. But on the other hand, I did 5 boxes which produced over 20 oz of silver back in June. Good luck!

You would certainly know Nick with all the volume you do. I've only got $40 in nickels I got today and a box of cents I got last Fri. that I still haven't opened to search tonight - but that box of cents may last me a while. I think I'll get another box of dimes tomorrow and I'm going to try and increase my edge searching speed a little so maybe I can do a little more volume with dimes.

But I'll be interested to know what you find in all those black and white rolls.

Seems dissapointing but still an awesome score!! I would love to get those results in halves.

Wow, you went through all those rolls in 5 1/2 hours? You are quick with the silver. Your name really fits. It would of taken me close to 5 1/2 days to go through all that. Nice job. Do you often search so much like this at one time? Sounds like you've got one really big dump coming.

What kind of condition are those 2 WL's in? I really like hearing about those finds. Let's me know they are still out there just waiting to be found.

The WL were 1942 and 1944.

I usually go through about $6,000 total between dimes and halves per week but I now have a system in place where I just bag the coins and they get sent out to be counted. Now I can double or triple my volume and not have to worry about the dumps. Except lugging the 14 bags to my car and into the bank...

any bank will give you coin lock bags....i've been preaching it a few times in other posts :-) better than any coin counter.

I carry 6 at a time ~168 pounds, just keep it even on both sides, get to know the security guards, and keep your eyes peeled as always!

The key to all of this is befriending the merchant tellers, cuz they are the ones who receive the coin lock bags and give you the supply you need.

I wish it were true that any bank will give you coin lock bags, I've asked at a couple of my dump banks and have been told that all coin must go through the machine, policy.

Try dumping a couple thousand into the machine a few times a week and see if they want to keep up the maintenance to their machine. If the machine is a big bin instead of bags, then motivating them to let you bring in bags may be more of a challenge. Politely ask the vault teller or branch manager to let you bypass their counter. Explain that you will be bringing in thousands worth of coins per week and that you are looking out for the best interest of the bank by not wearing down the counter / breaking the counter. That should work and then after a drop off you will have to wait a few days for your account to be credited.

So you can drive to and pick up from the bank, unwrap and search, then dump all 18 boxes and get home in 5.5 hours? That is amazing time.

It took 15 minutes to load the bags into my car and the bank is on my route for lunch. Another 15 minutes to drop bags off. So with that accounted for... 6 hours of work.

3-4 boxes per hour is realistic for me when I have no distractions....always helps to find silver early on as well....I find if im in for a long grind session and start off with 4 skunks my productivity goes WAY down lol..
