Today's adventures (27 Mar. 06)

First I'd like to share a little story. Last year while detecting one of my neighbors inquired about what I was doing.....a pretty common question to most MD'ers. We tend to peek peoples curiosity for some reason..... well anyways after explaining the hobby a bit and sharing stories about some of my better finds and showing him a nice collections of rings I've found over the last couple of years....... I got the common response, I got to get me one of those things.......well to make a long story short......I saw him today and his wife had purchased him a detector for Christmas..... I talked him into getting his machine out (White's Prizm II) so I could show him a few things.........in a matter of 5 or 10 minutes in his very own yard........we had a $1.50 in clads and a religious medal ......... Guess what guys ??? ........ another one hooked ;D Hopefully he will allow me to continue helping him, as he still needs to refine some of the retrieval skills etc.......I think if I had let him he would have taken a backhoe to his yard :D

Things have finally thawed ......It's amazing what just two days in the high 40's and low 50's can do.....anyways after helping my neighbor out.... I hit my own backyard for about 15 mins before the wife insisted I help do the grocery shopping.... I found 3 Shell casing, some sort of latch and this bottle.......I don't think it's very old, but then again I don't know the first thing about bottles.........I'll describe it and maybe someone here can assist me......

2 seams opposite each other.....run from the base to the lip.
The bottom of the bottle has a small slightly off center circle.
The only marking on the bottle are raise letter around the based which read:

1) BB13
2) The letter "C" in a triangle with a dot below the triangle and a no. 1 to the right of it
3) .CANADA.
4) NOT TO BE REFILLED

Re: Today's adventures (27 Mar. 06)

Here's a possible answer that I googled:

"C in a triangle......Consumers Glass Company, Ville St. Pierre, Montreal, Quebec, Canada (1917-??). Mark was an inverted triangle (point down) from 1917 to 1961, and a slightly rounded "right-side up" triangle starting in 1962, according to information per Toulouse. A second plant was built at Etobicke, Toronto in 1953. (Note: "C in an inverted triangle" is also the mark of Cambridge Glass Company, Cambridge, OH (1903-1959), but Cambridge made no commercial bottles and jars.)"

Found that info at David Whitten's bottle marks web page:

That's a nice story pdgen. It's always nice when a new detectorist is in the making!
Cheers Angela :)

P,

a bottle in your own backyard. Way to go. Dig up
that entire yard, could be more.

It's always nice to get someone interested in the
hobby.

But, your training the competition ??? ;D

have a good un...........

Got any pics?
;) I guess technically I can claim those finds as mine, but of course I gave them to him and in the process promoted the hobby........so I don't have any photos of it.......I will however post a real beauty from last year that I am very proud of. I'll post it later today.....
