Todays finds.. Silver whatis?

First let me say I HATE BUTTON BACKS!!! There I feel better. I went out in search of a Calvary Pickett line that I believe is on a farm I hunt. Well I'm getting closer.
Managed a few good finds including the 08 Barber quarter and the little silver item. Anyone have any idea of what this thing is?? Or was used for??

Kinda looks like a little candle snuffer - but it would have a handle extending laterally -not just the finial on top - nice find !
It could be a little bell - missing the ringer

I don't think it's a candle sniffer it's kinda small, and it doesn't have a spot were a clapper would have been. But I like tha snuffed idea
