Nice finds! I bet those were heavy. We all have the same addiction.

Girl- you've got a kick-azz place to hunt! Like that last one (and yer sweet 4-leggers;)) :icon_thumright: Yakker

You have a pretty complete history there of the cretaceous period in Texas. As you acquire more, just keep this in mind- "Don't ever move". Really nice...

NOPE!! When I moved here, it was the intent to be the last place I move to. I hope to God that nothing changes that thought.
I moved here to swim, fish and everything outdoor possible here... and somehow just can't get enough!
Thanks for looking, everyone!

Super nice fossils! :icon_thumleft: Those Urchin/Sand dollar's are really cool, and those extra large snail shells are awesome.

Dang girl how did you carry all that? More than one trip?
Looks as if you are in two different deposits.
Glen Rose formation and Georgetown.
You have a few nice echinoids in there. Regulars are Salenia Mexicana (small ones with caps) and Tetragramma taffi.
Lots of maybe heterasters and macrasters echinoids (irregulars)

You have a really nice collection there watch out you can overload yourself and have no room for anything else but fossils.
Love the four legged friends there.
Does the blackie go with you all the time? I see him in the first pic.

Thanks, Bone...
Yes, carried it all at once, and that is why I left when I did... I reached my max weight limit. LOL
Thinking I should get saddlebags for my big dog, he's strong.
Yes, both boys go with me everywhere I explore, they have a blast.
The creek bed I got all this from goes pretty far, but I got full on only about 3/4 mile of exploring.
Kinda deep in some areas, I would roughly guess about 15 ft deep in some areas.
(Creek bank to deepest)
I can see several layers and several different kind of rock formation.
There is SOOO much to look at there. Lots of shale...? I think thats what it is.
I'll pic some of the various rock next time I go.
Thanks for your input!

PS... Its too late, Ive already picked up too many fossils, and my house is FULL of fossils.

Oh, I see. A problem indeed.
So many rocks and so little space to display.
I too have difficulties at separating and displaying.
Some so small just looking at them takes a loupe.

Are your boys rescues?
The little one looks to be part weenie dog.
I can't take my doggies any where. No attention span at all. Gotta run gotta chase then I gotta catch.

Have fun trying to figure out a way to display your collection.
It sould be done at some time or another.

Yes, both boys are rescued from a bad life...and now they are the love of my life... LOL
Jake is half Lab and half Pit bull. Mickey is half hotdog, half min pin. Makes 2 incredibly spoiled rotten dogs!
The only displaying I've really done is huge flower pots on my porch full of fossils... can't really see all those... and the walls along the floor are lined with fossils, all throughout my house. ALL window sills have fossils in them. Some special ones are on book cases. My porch is lined with fossils. I know, kinda ridiculous. Got display boxes, just haven't put them up yet.

Well girl if you love them then you are returning what they obviously give to you.

I am new to South Central TX (San Antonio). My son is interested in fossil hunting. From your pics looks like you are in the area...I am hoping...can you suggest some good sites for us to start?

Being a rockhound is a heavy hobby! Nice finds!

collecting fossils is like disease. never you have enough :D

Wow those are nice!! Cool you have a guard dog to watch over them as well:)

FYI----The lady who posted this and several others a year ago this past January has opened Outdoor Texas Tours, LLC up at Canyon Lake, Texas. Actually, I think the town is Startzville. her name is Kim and the website is Outdoor Texas Tours,LLC - HOME. She rents kayaks, floats, bicycles and will give guided tours if you wish. You can get a kayak tour or a hike I think and you can dig those fossils all day. Contact her for a great day, week or more. The lake is more than full and the fishing is always good. White bass, largemouth bass, ceappie, perch, cats and I suppose carp and gar, if that's what you are into. I plan to go bike riding and maybe kayaking myself this summer. Beautiful lake, clean water and nice people. When you get finished, head down the River Rd. to Gruene(Green) and visit the Gristmill Restaurant. Great Chicken Fried Steaks, regular steaks and chicken...Also, they can be found on facebook. Outdoortexastours-home.
