Today's hunt
Well, I wanted to give my most recent site one more opportunity to give up something good. Today I tried hunting the back field that had a nice looking ridge plus a small stream in the woods on one side. But in 3 hours I could not find any evidence of a house site, and only made a few random finds. One was a large colonial button with a nice design. I also found what appears to be a rather early pewter button with a crude shank. The front also has the appearance of one of those nipple buttons. I later went back to the colonial housesite on the knoll in the front field where I've found plenty of goodies in the last 3 weeks. But in 2 more hours I could only muster one small flat button. So I think I've reached the point of diminishing returns at this site as it's just not worth the time and effort, although its possible a few random finds remain. Since this is my last accessible field to hunt, I may be done for the season. Hate to see it end as its been an extremely productive year for me both in terms of quantity and quality. Guess I need to start working on a year-in-review post to summarize my adventures from the last few months. In the meantime I'm looking forward to following all the amazing stuff that I'm sure will be continue to be posted on this forum. HH and good luck to all ..... Bill
