today's Ring find- Stone ID help please

MarkG from Pa. and myself got out this morning to a site known as the 'hidden fields"....this area dates back to Colonial (1754) to Civil War times...Mark and TNT have posted some of the finds from this area...its unreal what was found here and at an area about a quarter mile away...

In a hill side area that was full of can tops I got this ring....there are eagles on the sides and stars around the stone....

If there are any gem or stone experts out there I love the help in id-ing the stone.....the best i could do on line was Rose Quartz.....
It says sterling on the inside and the stone is a milky light pink.....It is not modern.

I believe that stone is a Boo-yahzanite! ;D Nice find. On a serious note....maybe rose quartz or a really beat up ruby? Just a guess.

Let me know what you find out about this ring. I found one almost like it earlier this year at a very old site. Mine does not have the stars but has the same stone and eagle markings.

Nana, thunter, piggyman, and evolution - thanks for the replies.....I spent an hour on the web learning about stones and gems...quite interesting the stuff that is out there......even some stuff you wouldn't think is valuable is worth a modest amount...on this stone the closest I got was Rose Quartz.........there are pink rubies but they seem to be clear...this stone is milky...there are all kinds of neat stones and gems I had never heard of...

and thunter what kind of site did you find the ring in?......MarkG and I feel this site was used like 1920-1940 ....though the reason I ask is that just over the hill we have gotten Civil War Eagle buttons, an 1853 Half dime, a bunch of 1860ish Indians and many other good coins (including a 1825 large cent I got on my birthday) ........ there was an 1800 reservoir back in the day that brought all the local folk to the area..

I have no idea but this is one of my fav finds....being a coin person I know i have passed over many a ring and button....

I'll post some of my finds from this area when I get a chance...aloha johny mc
