Hello everyone, I could use a little help on my latest find from yesterday. I was at the Bethlehem, Pa Municipal Pool/Ice Rink near the Golf Course, on the hill in the back, the area is very old and I got a great high pitch repeating squeal and at first thought it may be soda can, but knowing the history of the area I always dig. At about 6-7" I popped shattered I thought was an old old coin, when I got home I washed it off with a little water and soaked it in olive oil and saw it wasn't a coin but some type of token. I'm thinking it's from 1906 since it says 50th Anniversary 1856-1906. I'm super excited but I cannot find it anywhere online!!! I searched for at least an hr or so. Please, if someone has seen this type or has info I would appreciate the help! Thanks a lot and hope to hear a good response soon. HH

Very cool find, it is difficult to make out the details from the pictures. Good luck.

It's a good luck token, assuming an anniversary of a leather store being opened. I'm from lehighton, pa and looking for someone to go with. But that's what I think your token is. I just found a bread token from Allentown in lehighton

Google John G Schmidt Leather Findings & co. Cladiator is right about the leather store I think. Looks like they made several types of tokens.

bfrat--not everything is online...

Aqua's PA Merchant Tokens book lists this as Philadelphia #J - W, and like Mac said, there is at least one other similar piece from Schmidt. Aqua lists this as rarity 3.
