Any update? I did a little online research and have to agree with the other posters that the chances of it being the real deal are close to zero. Still, stranger things have happened.

well I would not be disappointed..even if it is a fake I have never seen one posted on here before,so even the fakes must be few and far between,,,,,,pretty interesting as far as I am concerned..
by the top of the 6 I'm going to guess it's listed as suspect
on the site wlb42 posted above, but the hair definitely doesn't look like the fake shown.
Of course yours is environmentally damaged.
Still a cool Find , I hope is real.

although they say less than 20 genuine Confederate States of American (CSA) cents were ever struck.
don't trust Numbers , or books to be accurate
remember at one time it was said
All the 1933 Gold Double eagles were melted down, & GW Buttons were
very rare
Now that we have the internet, true numbers reach more people
