Couldn't help myself lol. Someone had it listed on ebay with bid starting at 10.00. Listed as may or may not work factory sealed box. Won bid at 60.00. I know shouldn't have gone that high or. Shouldn't of even bid. I have heard bad things about these machine but had to see for myself. Got it today. Put a batt. In powered it on and yea it works. At first look I don't know how this thing would be water proof. The way things are put together if you jumped in the water right oyt of box you would fry the thing. Going to seal both ends of tube with a silcone, double check my knobs. Other then that it looks like a ok machine. Coil is pretty big. I think I did so so with the buy. Think I might take it out for a fast test run tomorrow. HH

Wait until you get it out into the wet before you get too excited.

Im going to keep an eye on this post. Let us know how it performed. I have seen them before on Ebay and was curious.

Its not a Tesoro copy, just a knock off of the name if its the same as they advertise on the British E-Bay.

I personally would use it for dry land for a while... Do a depth test yourself and if it works ok use it as a handy back-up of for a girlfriend to join you on a outing. If you get tired of it or if you get a better MD, you could always water test it later to see if it works "Wet". For the $60.00 you're not getting hurt that bad... Good luck bud.

I have been using my Whites QXT Pro for about 5 years and love the thing, I had a Pirate headhunter but that was a joke in water. And come to find out what was listed for a description was a bunch of crap and about 3 years in on owning machine found out they changed it to instead of reading waterproof headphones where not even water drop proof. I don't have hopes to high for the china machine in wet said just hoping it,s a bit beter then the QXT. Havent got to beach yet to realy test but when i do i will post back about it. Might bring it to dad in laws today just to see it on dry land and how well it does there. HH

All I can say is it is a copy of the Sand Shark name only. You usually get less than you pay for with Chinese MD's.

dales a cleap suckel boln evlee minute who will buy cleap clap evleey tyme thimking day griting a bargin - old chinese saying

So took the Knock Off sand shark machine over to father in laws to see how it does. Did a fast hunt in his back yard with it and well hmmmmmm it did ok lol. I noticed there was a lot of chatter but you could still hear solid hits, I didn't mess around any with the Disc. had it off. So i'm thinking with a tiny bit of Disc. the chatter wouldn't be as bad or maybe gone all together. Next run is beach just not sure when i can get there. Need to do a few things to machine to reinsure it's not going to leak on me but i'm thinking with a tiny bit of Disc. it should be ok. I wouldn't pay the asking price of 250.00 for the machine though. It's for sure not worth that. HH

Several of the Chinese detectors do quite well if used at a fairly slow pace but you do get what you pay for. Many of the water machines have spindles on the knobs that rust in a few weeks of use and seize up. Low cost to buy but little resale value. You could get a secondhand major manufacturer detector, look after it and get back most or all your money when you decide to move on.

Detecting for free.

I got one of those free from a friend - anyone wants to give me $60
for it they can have it - piece of crap
picks up a quarter about 3 inches
may be good for a kid to play with on beach - but if you are serious hunter
dont waste your money

The detector is a fixed ground balance VLf operating at around 2.4khz. The low frequency will let you use it on dry beach sand but it will not like going in the salt water or black sand. It is OK in fresh water (less mineralisation).

tried one for a while out of curiosity and did use it submerged at the beach in chest deep water, I was lucky and no water got inside. If I recall correctly the battery comp was sealed from the electronics section. but I didn't trust the seals so never did that again and sold it on ebay.

The machine does work but is pretty guttless as far as depth is concerned; If it found stuff at 4 inches i was happy.
