HH........ I also found a gold cufflink button not far away from were I found the coin.

The coin might be French, but best guess :dontknow:

Rev picture of the cuff would be good? Normally late 18th C but this one looks a little too fancy, maybe later

try looking at the French coppers, eg: 1 Sol from late 1700s. Maybe IP will chime in if he thinks it is French.

It appears your cufflink is the find of the day for you, I agree with Cru, see photo of the backside, sure is pretty looking.

Colonial era French coins are rather scarce in my area, found one back in the 90s, my son has several varied ones, including a 1595 Douzain...

yep, I thought French Sol before reading any replies. Size could lower the denomination.

I would be calling it a French 1 Sol, if size is correct, in the first photo I am fairly certain you can see VI of XVI and location matches IPs example. (BTW, Lord Baltimore Shillings are Silver coins, not copper)

Just a feature of the 18th C. It's somewhat squared off, what bothers me is the large base its attached to, not seen this in an 18th C one before (doesn't mean it isn't), just adds a little question mark. Also the overall thickness of the piece is twice that of an average one & the design is pretty busy. I feel this maybe a mid-late 19th C, but only 50% confident :-\
